Male sighted trying car door handles in Wrenthorpe and Kirkhamgate.

Good afternoon

A male has been sighted in Wrenthorpe and Kirkhamgate trying car door handles on Sunday 27 July. He is described as a white male, slim, short dark hair with shaved sides, goatee beard and wearing a dark sweatshirt with white stripes on the arms and dark shorts. He was riding a white pedal cycle.

Please remain vigilant and take the following precautions:

Always lock your car, even when parked on your driveway.

Never leave items like wallets, bags or electronics visible inside your car.

Always double check that you have locked your vehicle by trying the door handle.

Vehicles with unfolded electric wing mirrors could indicate that it has been left unlocked. Car thieves are known to look out for vehicles with wing mirrors sticking out.

Offences can take place anywhere, in a car park, at the side of the road or on your driveway.

Report any suspicious activity to the police and inform your neighbours.
